Pacific Biodiesel’s first refinery, opened in 1999 and located at the Central Maui Landfill, was originally built to process 200,000 gallons per year, operating mostly on used cooking oil. The facility ceased fuel production when the company’s advanced biodiesel refinery on Hawaii Island began production in 2012. Currently the facility is used to capture used cooking oil collected in Maui County for shipment to Hawaii Island for processing.
