Mālama Maui Nui and Pacific Biodiesel partner to recycle Maui’s household UCO
November, 2025 Pacific Biodiesel is proud to announce its new partnership with the non-profit agency Mālama Maui Nui to collect household used cooking oil from Maui residents. Beginning on Saturday, November 15 – which is National Recycling Day – you can recycle your household used cooking oil (UCO) at the Mālama Maui Nui baseyard in Pu‘unēnē for easy drive-through drop-off. All the UCO will be collected by Pacific Biodiesel and recycled into our 100% renewable biofuel! Find directions below.
Every drop matters!
The fact is, every drop matters: for every gallon of UCO we recycle, we’re able to produce nearly one gallon of biodiesel. Pacific Biodiesel has drop-off locations on the neighbor islands as well. And now, with the support of Mālama Maui Nui, residents can recycle their used cooking oil in Central Maui. This is where it all started, after all, as we began recycling used cooking oil to produce our biodiesel on the Valley Isle three decades ago.
Pacific Biodiesel will be donating to Mālama Maui Nui $1 for each gallon of household used cooking oil we recycle that’s sourced from their collection efforts.

Talking ʻŌpala
Earlier this year, Pacific Biodiesel Co-founder, Kelly King was an invited speaker at Mālama Maui Nui’s regularly scheduled community event, Talking ʻŌpala. The October speaker series entitled, “Talk Story about Recycling in Maui County” was held at the Four Seasons Resort Maui. At the event King announced the new partnership with Mālama Maui Nui to collect household used cooking oil from residents across the island. Pacific Biodiesel would donate to Mālama Maui Nui $1.00 for every gallons of UCO collected by the non-profit agency.
King presented the company’s current activities promoting a circular economy, including its agricultural expansion on Kauaʻi and the production of locally grown and produced premium culinary oils. She also provided some historical context of Pacific Biodiesel, which began 30 years ago, by recycling used cooking oil from the Central Maui Landfill to recycle into biodiesel, the renewable alternative to petroleum diesel.
